My Story or in other words what is art to me?
To answer that I feel that I first must tell you who I am. I am many things, A woman, A wife, A mom, An artist, Home school educator and an Entrepreneur. I also have ADHD and the anxiety and depression that goes along with it. The ADHD does not define me however it does effect my life in many good ways and some not so good.
So what is art to me? Simply put it is my therapy. It is healing, soothing and it grounds me. When I have a paintbrush or any other art tool as far as that goes, in my hand I am taken to another world, a different zone, a much calmer place. My brain no longer feels like it has 20 browser tabs open all at the same time.
Most of the time if I am working on something alone it is at night with my ear buds in. In this way I can totally zone out and just be absorbed by whatever I am working on. This makes me happy and is why I wont even try to get all the paint off my hands when I clean up. See, when I wake up in the morning and see the paint in the creases of my knuckles or around my fingernails it quickly reminds me of the night before and how I felt while creating something with my hands. The feeling of satisfaction, the joy that came over me as I allowed the creative juices inside me to take over.
I want to share this with all of you and your children. Art is so important for all children, but even more essential for those with any disability, learning or otherwise. Unfortunately less and less art in any form is being implemented in the schools now. Either there aren't the funds or the time just isn't there.
So join my son and I as we show you simple things you can do to bring art into your life with all your children on a regular basis. Here you will find projects that use all different mediums and forms. Some messy and some not so messy. Please don't worry so much about making a mess. Put down a drop cloth and purchase one of those cheap vinyl tablecloths to protect your table. If you aren't so concerned with the mess you and your children will feel so much freer to just let the art flow, a chance for both your children's and your innermost feelings and thoughts to be expressed in your art.
My desire is for you all to find your unique grove as you explore all that the art world has to offer. I love this journey we are on and am so excited to share it with you.
